Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To remove the brake drum (see subsection 8.2.3).
2. To turn off from a reverse side of a brake board (see rice. The drum brake mechanism of a back wheel) a nut of fastening of a tube and to disconnect a tube from the union of the wheel brake cylinder. To muffle a tube opening.
3. To turn off two bolts of fastening of the wheel cylinder.
4. To part slightly top ends of brake shoes by means of two screw-drivers and to remove the wheel brake cylinder.
5. To install the brake wheel cylinder on a brake board, having slightly parted the top ends of brake shoes by means of two screw-drivers. Thus to watch that ledges at end faces of pistons were oriented outside and a flat surface adjoined to socks of brake shoes.
6. To connect a brake tube, having greased previously its end with brake fluid, and to tighten a fastening nut the moment of 15-20 N · m (1,5–2,0 kgfs · м).
7. To install the brake drum and a wheel.
8. After installation it is necessary to pump over the repaired brake mechanism (see subsection 10.15).
9. To squeeze out against the stop a brake pedal for self-regulation of the brake mechanism.

Dismantling, troubleshooting of details and assembly

It is possible to replace defective details of the wheel cylinder without removing it from the car.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To remove brake shoes (see subsection 10.8) if the cylinder is not removed from the car.
2. To pick up carefully a screw-driver and to take off protective caps (see rice. The wheel brake cylinder) from both parties of the cylinder.
3. To take out from the cylinder case pistons with cuffs and a spring.
4. To wash out details of the wheel brake cylinder pure brake fluid and to dry.
5. The mirror of the cylinder should not have risok, sinks and the centers of corrosion. With these defects the cylinder needs to be replaced. On carving parts of the cylinder there should not be mechanical damages.
6. Cuffs of the wheel cylinder have to be elastic and elastic. The fragmentary, inflated and hardened cuffs, and also risks having on working surfaces, it is necessary to replace. Protective caps also have to be elastic and elastic. It is obligatory to replace the fragmentary, inflated and hardened caps in order to avoid hit of dirt and water in the wheel cylinder.
7. The surfaces of pistons contacting to a cylinder mirror should not have traces of unilateral wear. Otherwise it is recommended to replace the wheel cylinder assembled.
8. The carving of a tip of a brake tube should not have mechanical damages. On the union of a tip there should not be cracks and traces of visible deformation.
9. To weaken an inhaling of the valve of production of air.
10. To establish on the cuff piston. Working edges of cuffs have to be directed in the cylinder. To grease pistons with cuffs brake fluid and an internal surface of the cylinder fresh brake fluid.
11. To insert into the cylinder the piston on the left side.
12. To establish a protective cap. It has to be put on hardly a head of the piston and a seat on the case.
13. To insert on the right side into the cylinder a spring and to unscrew the valve of production of air. Then to insert the second piston and to establish a protective cap.
14. To wrap the valve of production of air.
15. To establish brake shoes, the brake drum and a wheel.
16. After installation it is necessary to pump over the repaired brake mechanism (see subsection 10.15).
17. To squeeze out against the stop a brake pedal for self-regulation of the brake mechanism.
