10.8. Drum brake mechanism of a back wheel

GENERAL INFORMATION

Drum brake mechanism of a back wheel

1 – cup;
2 – clamping spring;
3 – driving lever;
4 – brake shoe;
5 – top coupling spring;
6 – rasporny level;
7 – adjusting wedge;
8 – wheel brake cylinder;
9 – brake board;
10 – bolt;
11 – core;
12 – clown;
13 – press spring;
14 – lower coupling spring;
15 – clamping spring of a rasporny level

Replacement of brake shoes

Thickness of frictional overlays of brake shoes has to be not less than 2 mm. Brake shoes need to be replaced in a set on both back brake mechanisms.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To establish basic whetstones under forward wheels.
2. To weaken an inhaling of bolts of fastening of a back wheel.
3. To raise and establish back part of the car on support.
4. To remove a wheel.
5. To check position of the lever of the parking brake which has to be in extreme lower situation.
6. To remove the brake drum (see subsection 8.2.3).
7. To press a cup (see rice. The drum brake mechanism of a back wheel) a clamping spring and, having turned it on 90 °, to remove together with a clamping spring, holding thus a cup core from a reverse side of a brake board. Similarly to remove a spring and cups from other block.
8. To disconnect the lower coupling spring from blocks.
9. To bring the lower socks of blocks out of the lower emphasis and to remove brake shoes, having brought their top socks out of grooves of pistons of the wheel cylinder.
10. To disconnect a tip of a cable of the drive of the parking brake from the driving lever.
11. To clamp the lower ends of blocks in a vice.
12. To disconnect a press spring of an adjusting wedge.
13. To disconnect the top coupling spring.
14. To disconnect a clamping spring of a rasporny level and to remove a rasporny level.
15. To clear all details of the brake mechanism.
16. To connect a clamping spring to a new forward block and a rasporny level. Then, overcoming effort of a spring, to insert the end of a rasporny level into a groove of a back block and to establish an adjusting wedge, having oriented it a ledge towards a brake board.
17. To insert other end of a rasporny level into a groove of a forward block and to establish the top coupling spring.
18. To connect a tip of a cable of the drive of the parking brake to the driving lever.
19. To insert the top socks of blocks into grooves of pistons of the wheel cylinder.
20. To establish the lower coupling spring and to insert the lower socks of blocks into the lower support.
21. To establish a press spring of an adjusting wedge.
22. To establish on cup cores with clamping springs and to record, having turned them on 90 ° and holding thus cores from the inside of a brake board.
23. To install the brake drum.
24. To establish a wheel.
25. After completion of work several times vigorously to press a brake pedal for installation of the demanded gaps between blocks and a working surface of drums.
Prevention

If on details of the brake mechanism lubricant is found, it is necessary to replace a half shaft bearing epiploon.
